Methodology

How entries are verified

Studio Morgue only treats an entry as verified when it is supported by an official statement, insolvency filing, legal record, or trusted industry publication.

Provisional

Supported by a trusted source, with details such as date or closure type still being checked.

Privately confirmed

Confirmed directly with a credible source whose identity is held on file but not published.

Unverified lead

Tracked internally when surfaced through social media, forums or private communities.

Disputed / nuanced

Used when a closure is real but context matters, such as a facility closure or brand integration.

About

A record of an unstable industry

Studios close for many reasons: market shifts, strikes, tax changes, debt, consolidation, mismanagement, changing production models, or simple bad luck. The aim is not to sensationalise closures, but to preserve a record of the companies, teams and work that shaped the industry.

The archive is independent and unaffiliated with any listed studio.
